Sign up now: Thirsty Hopster Hosted Tasting #2 - Belgian Sour Ales

April 9, 2008

Since the first tasting event (”Beers: 101″) was such a success, I’m hosting a second one, hopefully of many more still to come.

What: A beer tasting of Belgian Sour Ales.   I have about 4 beers already purchased and will probably choose up to 10-12 beers from about 4 different styles.  The beers already on the list are:

  • Duchesse de Bourgogne (Flanders Red Ale)
  • Rodenbach Grand Cru (Flanders Red Ale)
  • Panil Barriquee (Flanders Red Ale)
  • Monk’s Cafe Flemish Sour (Flanders Oud Bruin)

I’ll throw in one or two more Oud Bruins, and then fill out the list with some lambics and at least one gueuze.

When: Friday, April 18th, 7:00pm - 10:00pm

Where: My apartment in San Francisco.  I’m not posting the address on the blog, but either you know it already, know me already and can call/email me, or you can email me at thethirstyhopster@gmail.com and I’ll get back to you.

Who: Last time we had 20 - 25 people and it was too many, forcing several people to sit on the floor, and trouble getting to the beers.  This time I’m going to keep it to 15 people maximum.  Whether you are friend, family, co-worker, or none-of-the-above but a blog reader, you’re all welcome.  Your friends, significant others, roommates, etc., are all welcome too as long as you include them in your RSVP.

How to RSVP: Email me at jessica.l.jones@gmail.com with your name, email, cell phone, and number of people in your group.  Then, just wait for me to get back to you.  Since I’m taking the cap on number of people more seriously this time, this means you should RSVP early if possible.

How much? Last time we broke even at $15/person.  I expect it to be the same this time since the beers will be more expensive but there will be fewer of them (looking back on it, how did I think we were going to try 21 different beers in 2 - 3 hours? we sure came close though…).  In any case, I will promise you that it will be between $10 and $20, and I’ll get back with the exact amount soon, after I purchase the rest of the beer I need.

Quick preview to next month: I think the May one will be Bocks.
