About
About The Thirsty Hopster blog:
This blog is about enjoying good beer. It contains a wide variety of content organized into a few simple categories:
- Beer Reviews: opinion and commentary on beers and beer-serving venues. These beer reviews cover a balance of newly released or hard to find beers, locally produced beers, and personal favorites of The Thirsty Hopster. Beer-serving venues reviewed will include beer bars, brew pubs, restaurants with interesting beer lists, and breweries.
- Beer News: updates and commentary on developments related to beer and brewing. These postings vary from national or international news items, to state (California) and city (San Francisco) items of interest, to updates on The Monkeyhouse brewery.
- Beer Events: pre- and post-event coverage of beer celebrations including festivals, tastings, meet-the-brewer nights, dinners, competitions, and conferences. These postings emphasize events in the San Francisco Bay Area, but cover national events as capacity here at The Thirsty Hopster allows.
- Beer Class: explanations of topics within the fields of beer and brewing. The posting primarily cover introductory concepts aimed at new beer drinkers and discussions of homebrewing techniques.
All posts not otherwise marked are written by JJ, The Thirsty Hopster herself. From time to time, clearly marked posts by guest authors will be published as well.
About The Monkeyhouse:
The Monkeyhouse is, simply put, my apartment. It is where much of the beer drinking and brewing covered in this site goes down.
It is also the name of the brewpub (opening date TBD…2012?) at which The Thirsty Hopster’s line of beers will eventually be made available for public consumption. In the meantime, The Monkeyhouse brews can be sampled at tastings announced on this site.
About me:
I am a craft beer advocate, homebrewer, and general beer fanatic living in San Francisco. I started this blog in 2007 at the request of friends who wanted a trusted source of good beer recommendations.
I work in management consulting by day and in my free time, if I’m not drinking or making beer, I’m backpacking, sitting in the park reading, or eating breakfast food.
I hope you enjoy the blog and feel free to leave any suggestions for it here.
Thanks!

Heya,
Just wanted to say that I’m enjoying your blog and hope that you continue to write about what you’re tasting out there on the West Coast. I live in Nashville and have a little blog of my own going called ‘Grey’s Beer Blog’ (http://gpgarner.wordpress.com), but it’s great to hear about beers that we can’t get east of the Mississippi. Keep up the entertaining writing - I’ll add you to my blogroll.
Cheers!

Beer is a good thing to drink and to think and write about, I say.

It’s great to find another woman blogging about beer-love. I’m excited to read about your brew-type adventures in SF (I used to live around the corner from the Toronado). Rock on!
